The integration of artificial intelligence into auditing processes is revolutionizing the way organizations analyze information, assess risks, and respond to new regulatory requirements regarding sustainability. Being aware of these advances is essential to understanding how auditing will evolve in the coming years.
On May 21 and 22, 2026, Pablo de Olavide University (Seville) will host the 70th World Continuous Auditing & Reporting Symposium, one of the leading international conferences on continuous auditing, reporting, and digital transformation. The symposium will bring together researchers, professionals, and experts from around the world to discuss the latest innovations in auditing, data analysis, and artificial intelligence applied to the financial and business sectors.
Representing the International Chair in Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence and the Demographic Challenge (DemIA), Laura Sanz and Javier Parra, a member of the Diversity, Equality, and Sustainability Committee, will present the research paper “ESG Audit in the Age of AI: Application of Transformers for Double Materiality Compliance.” Their work explores how Transformer architectures can help automate the audit of ESG criteria and facilitate compliance with double materiality requirements—one of the major challenges posed by the new European sustainability regulations.
