Validate, model, and optimise your AI

The University of Salamanca will hold a seminar connecting three fundamental areas of current AI: data, mathematical modelling and rigorous validation of complex systems. Organised as part of the Doctoral Programme in Applied Artificial Intelligence, the event is aimed particularly at doctoral students, but attendance is open to anyone interested.

The seminar will feature the participation of researchers Simona Motogna and Sanda Micula from Babeș-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) and will be structured around two complementary 45-minute presentations.

  1. First, Dr Simona Motogna will address a central challenge in the development of AI: how to ensure its validity and reliability. From a software engineering perspective, she will analyse the role of empirical methods in the evaluation of intelligent systems and show how AI itself can strengthen experimental research. Her more than 25 years of experience, together with her work at Informatics Europe, provides a strategic vision on quality, technology transfer and scientific standards in international projects.
  2. Next, Dr Sanda Micula will offer an in-depth look at random phenomenon simulations and Monte Carlo methods, essential tools when problems cannot be solved directly through analysis. Her presentation will connect advanced numerical analysis with practical applications in optimisation, reasoning under uncertainty and large-scale decision-making, key elements in building robust AI systems. She holds a PhD from the University of Iowa (USA) and has extensive international research experience in the field of stochastic analysis.

The registration period will be open until 9 March.
